Aliya Brown purchased her first income producing home, together with her then husband in the spring of 2002. Owning property in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York, a legacy dream shared by the young 20 somethings to ultimately pass on to their children. At the brink of the market crash of 2008, that sweet dream had been fully engulfed into a terrifying nightmare.
After the pair had split, Aliya found herself drowning in mortgage debt, with not only one multifamily home but also a second investment property in Jersey City, NJ. Between tenants not paying rent, inconsistent income and caring for two children, a lifeline couldn’t come fast enough. Fortunately, help eventually came through. By 2012, Aliya had sold both properties, her mortgage debt was forgiven and she even walked away with a few dollars, as a settlement in a class action lawsuit with the mortgage lender of her second home. With nearly zero in savings, Aliya moved back to Long Island, where she grew up and soon began a new career in fitness and wellness.
As a licensed alternative healthcare practitioner, Aliya attained a role as a specialist in the wellness spa amenities offered in Manhattan’s luxury residential market. For six years she provided services to clientele residing in properties that make up Billionaire’s Row. Then in 2020, the COVID-19 Pandemic raged through NYC and the industry was hit hard. Once again, Aliya found herself looking for financial floatation devices.
In the midst of one of the most challenging times our world has seen, Aliya’s faith held strong and she soldiered through. Through an affordable housing lottery that she applied for in 2010, Aliya was finally called and she moved into a beautiful apartment on Long Island’s North Shore. With over twenty years of real estate experience, Aliya works through the ebbs and flows of the real estate market with tenacity and expects nothing but the best from her deals and clients.
